2 Nights in Merzouga Desert: Itinerary

Check out the program below to see what the excursion includes. Times change with the seasons, following the sunset and sunrise.

Day 1: Merzouga → Camel Ride → First Night in the Desert Camp

We meet you at your hotel or at our meeting point in Merzouga in the afternoon, where you can leave your main luggage in a safe place and take only a small bag for the desert. With your camel guide, you ride into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi for about 1 to 1.5 hours, stopping on the way to climb a high dune and watch the sunset over the Sahara.

At the camp you are welcomed with mint tea and settle into your tent. After a traditional Moroccan dinner, you gather around the fire for Berber drums and songs and admire the stars before your first night in the desert.

Day 2: Jeep Tour → Berber Pizza → Sandboarding → Second Night

Wake up early for the sunrise over the dunes and enjoy breakfast at the camp. Then your private 4×4 takes you around Merzouga: the seasonal lake, a paradise for migratory birds, the village of Khamlia with its Gnawa music, the black desert with panoramic views of Erg Chebbi, the old lead mines and a visit to a nomad family for tea. At lunchtime you taste a traditional Berber pizza, a flatbread stuffed with meat, vegetables and spices and baked in a clay oven.

In the afternoon you return to the dunes for sandboarding, sliding down the soft sand of Erg Chebbi. After a second sunset, you enjoy dinner, music around the fire and another night under the stars at the camp.

Day 3: Sunrise → Breakfast → Return to Merzouga

Wake up for a last sunrise over the Sahara, enjoy breakfast at the camp and ride back to Merzouga, where you can collect your luggage and continue your journey.
