Morning: Big Dunes → Flamingo Lake → Berber Pizza in Khamlia
We meet you in the morning at our office in Merzouga. After a short safety briefing, you put on your helmet and start your ride on an easy automatic quad with your guide. You first explore the big dunes of Erg Chebbi, then ride to the seasonal flamingo lake, where pink flamingos and other migratory birds can often be seen after the rains.
At lunchtime you arrive in the village of Khamlia, where you taste a traditional Berber pizza, a flatbread stuffed with meat, vegetables and spices and baked in a clay oven.
Afternoon: Black Desert Nomads → Znigui Desert → Oasis → Return
After lunch you ride into the black desert to meet the nomad tribes who live in traditional tents, and learn about their way of life in the Sahara. You then continue to the Znigui desert, a quieter area of golden dunes far from the crowds, perfect for great photos.
Your last stop is an oasis in the middle of the desert, where you relax in the shade of the palm trees before riding back through the dunes to our office in Merzouga.

The flamingo lake is seasonal and fills after the rains. Flamingos and other migratory birds can often be seen, but their presence depends on the water level and the season.
What is Berber pizza?
Berber pizza, also called medfouna, is a local speciality: a flatbread stuffed with meat, onions, vegetables and spices, baked in a traditional clay oven. A vegetarian version is available on request.
