1 Hour Buggy in Merzouga: Program
Check out the program below to see what the ride includes.
1 Hour: Edge of the Dunes → Sand Ridges → Sandboarding → Sky-High Viewpoint
Start (10 minutes): we meet at our base right at the foot of the dunes in Merzouga. Your guide shows you the buggy, adjusts your seat and helmet and explains how to drive on sand: smooth on the accelerator going up, gentle on the brake coming down. Then the engines start and the orange wall of Erg Chebbi is right in front of you.
On the dunes (50 minutes): you first follow the sandy tracks along the edge of the erg to get the feel of the buggy, then turn into the dunes and ride the long curved ridges, where the sand changes colour with every turn of the sun. Halfway, you stop on a soft slope to try sandboarding and race your partner to the bottom. The last climb takes you to a high dune viewpoint: on one side, the sea of sand rolling south as far as you can see; on the other, the dark flat hamada and the palm trees of Merzouga. After your photos, you drive back down to the base.
